Description of the methods/ approach
Using this Ipad application, students will learn basic knowledge related to programming. Students will have to introduce very simple commands (go forward, backwards, to the left and to the right) to make the bee arrive to a specific point. This exercise can start with a short introduction from the teacher, who will do an example so students can get familiar with the different commands. It could be done both using the app or using the original beebots.
Purpose/Aim
The purpose of this activity is that students acquire a basic knowledge related to programming and coding, using an interactive and easy application or resource.
Evaluation (results) of its effectiveness
The evaluation will depend on the resource used. If it is possible to use the real “bees”, teachers could divide students in small groups and be sure that each member is participating in the task. Teachers can walk around the class and check if there are questions or problems when doing the activity. If students use the Ipad application, it will be easier for teachers to check the development and progress of their students through the completion of the different levels. Again, teachers could walk around trying to solve different questions that may arise.
